On June 11, robot enthusiasts joined LFWA to learn about our autonomous water quality testing robot project. A talk on the development of the robots by John Crupi, Kick Robotics, was followed by an onsite demonstration of the robots in action.
The robots will conduct water quality testing in three locations on the Little Falls Branch in the Bethesda Chevy Chase area. They live creek-side in blue dog houses and are programed to ride down a track to the creek to test the water for temperature, pH, turbidity, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and water flow. This information will be transmitted to a dashboard that will be live on the LFWA website.
