We can’t have a community trash clean-up event, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any trash.
So - introducing INDIVIDUAL TRASH CLEAN-UPS for the Little Falls Parkway, creek and surrounding areas.
HOW TO DO AN INDIVIDUAL (OR FAMILY) CLEANUP:
Grab a bag and some gloves from one of our stations on the Little Falls Parkway
Massachusetts Avenue and Little Falls Parkway
Dorset Avenue at Little Falls Parkway
Pick a spot - the creek needs cleaning upstream and down stream as well as the parkway and the Capital Crescent Trail. If the parkway seems clean, you can move to another spot in the watershed. Some suggestions are - Willard Ave Neighborhood Park, the Willett Branch near the Bethesda Pool, Friendship Heights anywhere and the Commercial Areas along River Road between Ridgefield Road and Little Falls Parkway.
Take pictures.
Brag about your accomplishments. After you clean up, send a picture and record of how many bags you filled to info@LFWA.org
Leave your bags by one of the Park receptacles. There are cans at the intersection of Mass Ave and Little Falls, at the Bethesda Pool, on the Capital Crescent Trail by the River Road Bridge and at the intersection of Dorset and Little Falls.
BE SAFE: above all else, follow the guidelines for social distancing and outdoor activities.
SSL HOURS: Pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Contact us at info@LFWA.org for information on how to get your hours. The maximum hours we can offer for any one week is three.
We ask all participants to observe the CDC health and safety guidelines as as well as current local public health orders, and for anyone experiencing symptoms or caring for someone with symptoms to stay home and take care of yourself!
