Join our Salt Monitoring Team
NEW LOCATION:
Due to rain, we will meet inside at 4920 Dorset Avenue, Chevy Chase. Parking is on the street across from the house.
Join LFWA to kickoff to this year’s Winter Salt Watch season! Winter Salt Watch is a community science program aimed at identifying road salt pollution hot spots and raising awareness on smart salting practices. Road salt keeps our roads and sidewalks safe in the winter months, but too much can harm our streams and our health.
At this meeting, we will show you how to use the test strips, assign locations and go over the best times test.
We partner with the Izaak Walton League’ Salt Watch program. Visit them HERE to order your free test kit and to learn more about the importance of keeping our creeks salt free. Visit HERE to learn more about our program result from previous years.
We report the findings to Clean Water Hub site. It would be helpful if people login/register at the Clean Water Hub site before the meeting and review the how to video.
If you can’t make the meeting, please contact Sarah at stormwater@LFWA.org for more information and to volunteer for a spot.
